About our school

New Richmond Preparatory Academy is a public charter school in New Richmond, Ohio, serving students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Ohio grades every public school on a 0-to-100 Performance Index. In 2024–25, New Richmond Prep scored an 81.7, which places the school in the top 10% of Ohio charter schools. That number comes from the state, not from the school.

New Richmond Prep is built around STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. But those subjects aren't taught as standalone classes layered on top of a regular school day. They're the method. A student learns to think through problems by building something, testing something, or measuring something. Reading, writing, and critical thinking happen inside projects. The work gives students a reason to understand the material.

That emphasis on curiosity and real-world problem solving isn't incidental. It's what makes New Richmond Prep feel different from a conventional K–6 classroom — a family-focused environment where children are expected to figure things out, not just memorize them.

It's a publicly funded school. There's no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.

STEM-enriched curriculum that weaves science, technology, engineering, arts, and math into every school day

Small K–6 environment designed so teachers know each child's name and where he or she actually is in the work

Free breakfast and lunch every school day
Free transportation for eligible students
